Why we love Detroit on CNN.com

There was recently an article on CNN.com highlighting 13 locals and their reasons for staying in Detroit. Even out in the suburbs, we get asked why we stay in Detroit and in Michigan. Sure we are down right now, but yet we stay. I believe it has to do with how great the area is. Other than the economy at the moment, I can't think of another reason to leave Michigan. I can think of a handful of reasons to live here though.

1. Our state has the coolest shape of any. How great is it to raise up your hand instead of a map when asked where you are from?

2. We experience every season and every one is beautiful.

3. Sure we have storms, tornadoes, flooding, etc. but they don't seem to be as severe as in other states. No hurricanes, volcanoes, earthquakes or tsunamis, that's for sure.

4. We live around 22% of the worlds fresh surface water. That is cool.

5.For most of us, our friends and family live here. What is more important than that?
